Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic artist, performer and composer. Avery Sunshine combines soul gospel jazz and R&B for a distinctive blend. She has appeared on stages all over the world, from Broadway and The Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine has the name Denise White. Though she lives in Atlanta but she is from Chester Pennsylvania where she began the musical path by singing and playing the piano in churches. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her training within the city's R&B scene. The Fighting Temptations The single featuring her voice,"Stalk You a House 12, is only available in Japan. The song has been remixed numerous times and it's a major part of her live show. Her voice is also included on the soundtrack for The Fighting Temptations. In 2005, she was commissioned as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage musical Meet the Browns. In 2007, Grammy and Tony award-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out to become the choral director in the production staged by Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention for her four-day performances during the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
